Is it normal for tinnitus to be worser with a cold?

Alan asked: Hey guys i have a cold and I suffer a lil tinnitus, but witht he cold My left ear has a louder ring to it, is this justr down to the cold? Soemtimes my ears get a lil sensitive to sound aswell due to the cold.

Its worse because of your cold. The air pressure in your ear rises during a cold as your sinuses swell. Some people find taking an antihistamine (allergy relief) tablet can help as it reduces the swelling. After your cold disappears the tinnitus may carry on for a few days, this is also normal. Oh and drink pleanty of water.

Many of the OTC cold meds can cause this to get worse.
